One Thing Every Woman of Altitude Pursues.
I have been having conversations with women of altitude since the isolation at altitude newsletter series wrapped, and one theme keeps surfacing that I want share. First, though, thank you for the engagement over the last seven weeks. The conversations, debates, and messages have been wonderful, and I hope we continue this way as we move into what is coming next.
Here is the theme that surfaced in my conversations: Not every woman of altitude carries all seven of the indicators we walked through. One woman told me she is a woman of Walmart. She recognized herself in the Walmart piece as the woman who can move through her life without always being on, so the Always On Problem did not land for her the way I framed it. Another woman told me she has figured out the impact she wants to make and is very clearly on mission, so the Impact Conundrum did not land the way I framed it. She still faces crossroads. Just not that one. Different women, different indicators, different clarity needed at different times.
In my survey work and my own experience, most women of altitude identify with three to five of the seven indicators, not all of them. I did not make that clear enough during the series, and I want to correct that here.
If you missed the series or want to share it with another woman of altitude, all seven newsletters are on the blog at jennlandis.com/yourbreakthroughguide.👇
The last seven weeks focused on the cost of isolation at altitude, including:
▶ Thought partners who would help you see.
▶ Balanced feedback that would help you trust yourself.
▶ Perspective that would help you name what you are actually carrying.
All of these make clarity so much harder. So that is what we're digging into next. This is the beginning of a new series about the process of gaining clarity.
The women I work with are at very different points in their impact journeys. The solopreneur asking which offer to build next. The post-pivot founder still finding her footing in the new direction. The CEO at the top asking whether this is still the right seat. The nonprofit leader running a mission-driven organization who needs clarity about the next phase of the mission. The successful entrepreneur quietly killing it at home in sweatpants with no one at her altitude to think with. The woman approaching retirement asking what her contribution looks like next.
Different women. Different clarity. All of them worth naming.
Over the next four weeks, we are going to work through what that practice actually looks like. I hope you will join me on this journey.
🤏TINY TWEEK Challenge
Name for yourself the crossroads you are standing at right now.
Not the one from three years ago.
Not the one you think you should be facing.
The one that is actually in front of you. You don’t have to solve it. Just name it. Hold onto it as the series continues. Each newsletter will give you another way to look at it.
